PNCA seeks media support to promote cultural heritage

ISLAMABAD, Oct 8(APP): The newly appointed Director General of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Syed Jamal Shah here Saturday called the media for supporting PNCA to promote the cultural heritage of the country.
In a Press Briefing, he said there was a need to start new iniatives for highlighting the mandate of PNCA and renew the ongoing activities with participation of fresh talent to make the events more productive.
Sharing his views for giving boost to PNCA’s activities, he said PNCA will hold a national music festival quarterly and annual drama, dance and theater festivals besides holding national level workshops, programs of visual and performing arts, cinema, tributes, national and international exhibitions in authentic way and quality content.
Workshop of Gandhara art will also be arranged in which local sculptors who make replicas of Gandhara statues will be given opportunity to make sculptures in front of people and make their own identity, he said.
He said we also want to claim the popular Dancing Girl sculpture of Mohengodaro which is Pakistan’s property but exhibited in India.
Art and culture is a neccessity that strengthens our identity, introduced us with our past and stops extremism in a society, he said, adding that Pakistan is a melting pot of culture and traditions which needs to be preserved and promoted.
