Qualify for World Cup, Olympics is our main target: Khawaja Junaid

LAHORE, Oct 6 (APP):  National Hockey Team Head Coach, former Olympian Khawaja Junaid has said that the steps taken by the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the revival of the Pakistan hockey are really commendable.

Talking to APP at National Hockey Stadium here on Thursday, he said that If we are trusted by the prime minister and the entire nation, we will certainly try our best to take decisions in the larger interest and betterment of Pakistan hockey.

He said our primary target was to remove the hurdles due to which team failed in executing its real potential and to qualify for next World Cup and Olympics.  He hoped that Pakistan team would give a good news in match against India on October 23.

He said that PHF was spending the funds allocated by the prime minister on merit to get better results and restore the dignity of the hockey in Pakistan.

To a question, he said that Pakistan Hockey Federation’s ‘Vision 2020’ would rejuvenate hockey in the country. APP/ia/VNS, Lahore
