Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan signed MoU for enhancing cooperation in various sectors of economy


ISLAMABAD, Jan 12(APP): Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan here on Thursday signed MoU to enhance cooperation in trade, textile, defence, energy, banking, and other sectors.
Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif and Kyrgyz Minister for Economy signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), after the third session of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Joint Ministerial Commission.
Both sides agreed to take measures for devolving trade linkages and establishing a joint working group on industry.
The Kyrgyz side showed keen interest in Pakistani goods, especially in the surgical, textile, leather, sports, and cutlery sectors.
Both sides agreed to explore the possibility of procurement of Kyrgyz ammunition and light weapons. The two countries expressed satisfaction with the progress on the CASA-1000 and resolved to initiate physical work on the project at the earliest. They also expressed interest in exchange of sports persons and sports trainers and to further promote culture and tourism.
The Kyrgyz side requested for Pakistan’s support on grant of observer status in International Halal Accreditation Forum, while Pakistan assured Kyrgyzstan of extending the desired support in this regard.
