LAHORE, Feb 10 (APP): Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif and vice chancellors from 11 public sector universities on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to inaugurate centers of Chief
Minister e-Roazgaar Training Programme at Arfa Software Technology Park.
Talking to the media, the PITB chairman said the e-Rozgaar programme was a flagship project of the Punjab government with an aim to enhance employability as well as employment opportunities for young graduates using information
He said 10 e-Rozgar centers were being introduced from today across the province where freelancers would be trained to acquire work opportunities through smart use of
Annually 10,000 young graduates, in 40 centres across Punjab, would be trained to explore their skills via online platforms, he added.
Dr Omer Saif said Pakistan was the 4th largest provider of freelancers in the world and this initiative would also enable our youth to earn valuable foreign exchange for our country, he added.
During the first phase, e-roazgaar centres would be set up in Lahore College for Women University LCWU, Bahauddin Zakria University Multan BZU, Islamia University Bahawalpur IUB, GC Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), University of
Gujrat, COMSATS Wah Cantt., KFUET Rahim Yar Khan, UET Taxila,University of Agriculture Faisalabad, UET Lahore and Information Technology University, Lahore.
Vice Chancellors and official representatives from the partner universities also lauded the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and reiterated their resolve to help make this programme a success.
To a question, the PITB Chairman said taxation and regulation matters of the private cab services, Uber and Careem were being discussed. Dr Omer Saif said a fresh regulatory and taxation mechanism should be evolved for dealing with them, however, they would discuss their regulatory proposals.
He said the taxation and regulation matters of these private cab services would hopefully be settled within next two to three weeks.APP/hsn/asm
