15000-20000 persons visit Jallo Botanical Garden daily

LAHORE, Mar 20 (APP):Botanical Garden Jallo has become very attractive tourist spot in Punjab capital.

“About to 10000 to 15,000 persons visit this park daily on working days while the number rose to 20,000 on week ends and public holidays”, said Muhammad Muneeb Deputy Director Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) talking to APP here on


He said that the botanical garden is the first mega park project constructed in Lahore after the year 1985.

Butterfly House, Teto walk way and recreational facilities for children are also there to attract tourists of all age groups.

He said that there are 1500 kinds of plants in the garden. Species of Shrubs, Climbers, Flowers and Fruit Trees are planted to attract tourists and researchers,he added.

‘ 7 H Thematically designed garden has separate portions for each kind of plants.

At least 468 different types of local and imported roses are planted in its flower section beside other types of flowers.

The Thai native fruit Trees of mango, Jambolin, guava and lychee, differ in sizes and taste with indigenous fruits, are cultivated on experimental basis.

A small plant of tropical region fruit durian, famous for its fragrance and flavor is also planted.

Whole park can be observed by moving on the `Teto walk way.

PHA has also made effective arrangements for security of the visitors.

PHA official Amir Ijaz said that services of private security agency have been hired in addition to the own guards of PHA and security staff of the garden.

Visitors of the park including ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls have admired the authorities for providing a world class recreational facility.

” We are here with our children to enjoy as this is a fantastic recreational facility”, said Mr & Mrs Ahsan Ahmed a couple who visited the park with their children.
