President for new linguistic experiments in academia to establish regional links

ISLAMABAD March 20 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain has underscored the need for new linguistic experiments to facilitate mutual contacts between regional countries in order to make China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) successful for which Urdu language provides an excellent basis. He stated that in this regard Pakistani linguistic experts and National University of Modern Languages (NUML) should play their role.

 

The President said this while addressing the 4thConvocation of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) here in Islamabad on Monday.

The President stated that in order to overcome the issues of communication after the operationalization of CPEC when a large number of foreign traders, industrialists and people belonging to different walks of life start arriving in Pakistan, he had donated a reasonable amount to NUML by reducing expenses of the Presidency so that the youth of Gwadar could learn Chinese language by establishing a campus of this university in Gwadar.

Addressing the students, the President emphasized that there is no room for extremist conduct in Islamic teachings nor the constitution of Pakistan permits it adding that according to our religion and Constitution of the country, the people who leave the path of moderation are unforgivable and become completely astray. The President said that the state and its institutions are playing their role for eliminating these undesirable activities and their perpetrators but it is the foremost responsibility of educated segments of the country particularly the youth to utilize their abilities for rejecting and correcting the misleading narrative. He stated that it is imperative to defeat terrorism and extremist mindset in order to materialize the revolution of regional connectivity that we are accepting in the form of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and hoped that the students will meet expectations of the nation in this regard.

 

The President urged NUML to establish linkages with universities from China and Central Asia to Eastern Europe to facilitate in mutual contacts by benefiting from the experiences of these countries. He appreciated that NUML is devising a strategy in this context to address future challenges.

 

On the occasion, the President also gave away Gold Medals to the position holders. Rector NUML, Gen. Zia-uddin Najam, academicians and a large number of students and their parent attended the ceremony.
