Aqeel, Sara, Saqib, Sami bag SN Hard Court Tennis titles

ISLAMABAD, April 12 (APP): Aqeel Khan clinched Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court Tennis Championship here Wednesday at Pakistan Sports Complex.
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera were present on occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister lauded the efforts to promote sport activities in the city and offered his all out support to uplift healthy activities. Ishaq Dar said that politics should be separated from economy, energy and sports sector. He offered his full support to further expand sport culture and activities in the city. “Only healthy nations can change the destiny of a country”, said the Minister.
He said that Pakistan is safe country for international sports activities. Referring to Radd-ul-Fasad operation, the Minister said that country’s security agencies are doing their best to root-out the menace of terrorism from the country.
Earlier, in Men’s Singles final, Pakistan’s top seed player Aqeel Khan added yet another feather to his cap by defeating Abid Mushtaq by 6-2, 6-4.
Men’s Doubles title went to the pair of Aqeel Khan and Heera Ashiq, both showed superiority in doubles and won the title against Shahzad Khan and Yasir Khan by 6-3, 6-4.
In Women’s Singles, Sara Mansoor bagged Ladies Singles title after a convincing victory over her opponent Meheq Khokhar.
Mehaq looked nervous from the start, where Saara showed some extraordinary footwork with flashing strokes beating Mehaq by 6-1, 7-5.
Saqib Umar won Boys Juniors U-18 title easily against his younger brother Aqib Umar by 6-3, 6-2.
In Boys Juniors U-14 title, Sami Zeb beat Abdul Hannan Khan in an easy contest, Sami won the match by 6-1, 6-0.
In Boys and Girls U-10 match, Shahsawar Khan beat his opponent by 4-1, 4-0.
Total prize money for the event was 306 thousand rupees.
