Our family served purpose of rule of law by appearing before JIT:Shahbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD, June 17(APP):Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that his family has served the purpose of rule of law in the country by appearing before the JIT formed by the Supreme Court to probe into the Panama Case.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said this while talking to the media after his appearance in front of the joint investigation team (JIT) here on Saturday.
Shahbaz said unlike the military dictators, we, the elected representatives respect the law and the constitution.

He said that he has recorded his statement before the JIT with utmost respect. He said the elected prime minister wrote a new chapter the other day in the country’s history by appearing before the JIT. He said today is another historic day when for the first time an elected provincial chief minister presented himself before the investigation team.
Shahbaz Sharif said it is not the first time that his family has been subjected to accountability but in eras of PPP and military dictatorship, our family remained subjected to accountability.

The Punjab Chief Minister said there are no corruption cases against his family and the case before the JIT belongs to their personal business.

Referring to the development projects being executed in present government, Shahbaz Sharif said that two hundred billion rupees have been saved by ensuring transparency in power plants, Metro and Orange train.

He said Sharif family greatly adores this motherland and they have not plundered any money. He said we have returned all the loans of Ittefaq Foundaries.

He said that even though he has severe back pain he did not flee from the JIT’s summons.
“I did not go away to London, never to return, like other politicians,” Shahbaz said at the occasion.
This is not the first time that the Sharif family has been put to trial, people should not forget the time when our family’s Ittifaq Foundries were taken from us by force on 2nd Jan 1972 by Bhutto, He added.
The Sahrif family held accountable for the second time in 88’ and 90’s by Benazir Bhutto and also in 1993 and 1996 in the history and lastly in Musharaf era we had been victimized.

Earlier, when the Chief Minister Punjab arrived at the federal judicial academy, the secretariat of JIT, he was accompanied by Hamza Sharif, Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
