NA session meets


ISLAMABAD, May 16(APP): The National Assembly met at Parliament House here Wednesday with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the Chair.
The House passed thirty-three demands for grants relating to different ministries and departments for the next fiscal year.
Pakistan Peoples Party, PTI and Jamat-e-Islami withdrew their cut-motions on these demands of grants while those moved by the MQM were rejected by the House.
Winding up debate on the cut motions, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmed pointed out that several power plants were commissioned during the tenure of present government which added ten thousand megawatt electricity to the national grid.
Winding up debate on cut motions pertaining to Finance Ministry, Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail said the government has given unprecedented tax relief to salaries class.
Earlier, responding to the points of Chief of JUI (F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other members, Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch said there will be no change in the status of tribal areas in the next general elections.
The House will now meet again tomorrow morning at 10:30.
