ISLAMABAD, Dec 07 (APP): Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umar Friday describes financial inclusion is very essential for economic development, saying that access to finance is critical to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
The minister expressed these views while addressing the closing ceremony of the Annual Microfinance conference Titled Accelerating Finance Inclusion through Microfinance which was organized by Pakistan Microfinance Investment company (PMIC).
At the outset the Finance Minister said that the government if making efforts towards broadening financial inclusion and the 5-years plan for enhanced National Financial Inclusion Strategy approved by the Prime Minister is an important step in this regard.
He said that the 05-years plan would facilitate citizens and the financial institutions, especially in priority sectors of economy, and would thus help realizing the huge potential that existed in SMEs, agriculture and Islamic banking sector.
The minister was of the view that in order to achieve the goal of Micro-economic stability and development we have to focus on the financial inclusion.
The minister expressed belief that digital economy can play an important role in economic growth and government aimed at digitalizing our economy for development of our country.
