ISLAMABAD, Dec 5 (APP): Belarus is planning a series of activities in Islamabad to celebrate the upcoming 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Pakistan for a dynamic renewal of bilateral relations, Ambassador of Belarus Andrei Ermolovich said Wednesday.
“Belarus and Pakistan can open up a new chapter in their bilateral relations as the two countries celebrate 25 years of their ties in February 2019,”Ambassador Ermolovich said during a visit to Associated Press of Pakistan headquarters.
Ambassador Ermolovich said the Belarus government had lined up high-level visits of its representatives to Pakistan in connection with the upcoming anniversary to explore the potential of further cooperation in diverse fields.
He said the Belarsian Deputy Foreign Minister and the Minister for Industries would separately visit Pakistan, the dates for which were being sorted out.
He said a delegation of political scientists from Belarus would organize a conference in Islamabad in February in collaboration with Centre for Global and Strategic Studies.
Also, the embassy of Belarus would hold a photographic exhibition in Islamabad with an objective to highlight the diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Belarus, he added.
In a meeting with APP Managing Director Muhammad Qamarullah, the prospects of news exchange cooperation between APP and Belarus’ news agency Belta were discussed.
The APP Managing Director apprised the Belarusian Ambassador about APP’s news exchange cooperation with some 35 news agencies in the world, saying the objective was to get across authentic and credible narrative about Pakistan.
He said the APP Global – a recent news portal initiative, was acting as a bridge between Pakistan’s premier news agency and other wire services and could be regarded partially a diplomatic tool to bring closer the audience and readers of respective countries.
Director News Shafek Koreshe, Director Information Technology (IT) Ghawas Khan and Director Economic News Bilal Thaheem attended the meeting.
