PTI Govt has achieved its specified target in  200 days: Hammad Azhar

ISLAMABAD, March 13 (APP): Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar on Wednesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Government has achieved its specified target in the 200 days. He expressed his views while addressing a press conference here in Islamabad.

He said that the implementation of reforms at Federal Board of Revenue will help it collect taxes swiftly. He asserted that economic situations are improving and if Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) does not show performance then big steps could be taken.

Hammad Azhar claimed that country is now at path of development showing 17% reduction in current account losses.  “Tax laws are being simplified to increase the tax net in the country” he added.

Minister of State for Revenue said that we are negotiating to soften the IMF’s terms as Government does not want to put burden on public. Hammad Azhar said that FATF has acknowledged Pakistan on its progress.

He said that Indian Representatives are not allowed in Review Board. Minister of State for Revenue also wrote a letter to FATF in this regard.

He further stated that rates of gas were increased in order to overcome the increasing deficit of gas companies. However, the slabs are rationalized in order to not hurt the lower income strata of the country.

Minister of State for Revenue said the successful foreign tours of Prime Minister Imran Khan led to increased inflow of dollars into the country which helped stabilize the economy and import bill.
