PAC meets


ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP): The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) met in Parliament House here Thursday with Chairman Aashiq Gopang in the Chair.
The Audit briefs of the year 2013-14, related to Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Ministry of Housing and Works came under discussion during the meeting.
The Committee while analyzing the on-time availability of funds of FATA, directed to insure financial discipline in this regard.
Sardar Aashiq Gopang said the nations which follow financial discipline can achieve the progress.
Dr. Azra Fazal urged that FATA is a deprived area so its funds should be released on time.
Secretary FATA Secretariat informed the Committee that funds for FATA are released in time.
Analyzing one of the Audit brief, Auditor General Pakistan Rana Asad Amin urged the Committee to give directions for the audit of Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
He said FWO is reluctant for its Audit for which we also approached the Ministry of Defence in this regard.
He said according to Article 170 (2) of the Constitution, every government or public institute is bound for its Audit.
PAC gave directions for conducting the Audit of FWO.
The Auditor General said that if GHQ and other defence institutions hold their Audit then why not for FWO.
He also sought strict measures to address the 58 pending Audit Para’s of Ministry of Housing and Works amounting to Rs. 100,409.25 million which includes those pending in courts and NAB.
The Committee showed displeasure over the performance of Pak PWD.
The Committee directed the Ministry of Housing and Works to give details of pending cases in NAB and FIA in its next meeting.
