ISLAMABAD, Oct 10(APP): Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sheikh Ansar Aziz said that provision of quality recreational facilities in Islamabad is among our top priorities.
Inaugurating Club House at Markaz F-6, here on Monday Sheikh Ansar said that in order to eliminate monopoly of a specific group and ensure access of general public to these grounds, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) started retrieving control of grounds from illegal occupants.
The Chairman said that at time of establishment of MCI, construction of Club House was being carried out at slow pace; however, concerned formations were directed to complete this public welfare project at the earliest.
He said that MCI has taken concrete steps for provision of healthy and recreational facilities in Islamabad. He said that the residents of the capital city particularly the youth of Islamabad, has first right over these grounds where they could not only play their games but would also help flourish their talents. He said that all play grounds of the city are being up-graded on modern lines and provision of missing and state-of-the-art facilities is also being ensured.
He said that elected local representatives have been tasked not only to take care of the grounds but ensure the access of general public of their respective sectors in these grounds.
The Chairman CDA was briefed that construction of the Club House was started in 2009 to provide recreational facilities to the residents of the city, however, its construction was unexpectedly delayed due Van Guard Book Shop and Kabli Restaurant present adjacent to the site. He was briefed that the revised PC-1 amounting to Rs.112.585 million was approved in Year 2014.
He was informed that after getting control on concerned formation, all out efforts were made to complete this project at earliest.
Sheikh Anser Aziz was informed that the Club House comprises upon ground plus two story’s building, covering an area of 138×66 square yards, where facilities like men’s gym, conference hall, dining hall, changing rooms, kids play areas, sports shops and other facilities have been provided.
Officers of CDA and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), elected representatives and residents of the Capital City were also present on the occassion.
