Chinese ambassador meets advisor to PM on National Security

ISLAMABAD, Jan 24 (APP): Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong along with his team met the Advisor to PM on National Security Lt General (R) Nasser Khan Janjua here Tuesday.
They exchanged views on bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries.  Multiple areas including regional security, stability and matters concerning the security of Chinese working in Pakistan came under discussion.
Sun Weidong acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism and ensuring security of Chinese people at the same time. He expressed the hope that these efforts would pave way for increased economic activity in the region. He also conveyed China’s satisfaction with the security arrangements for CPEC.
The National Security Advisor said that China and Pakistan are remarkable countries and they cherish their long lasting friendship. CPEC would certainly be a milestone in further strengthening the bilateral relations between them.  “Connectivity at global level will come through us and Pakistan is a bridge builder” he reiterated.
This mega project has the potential to streamline infrastructure along the length of Pakistan and would usher a new era of economic prosperity for the whole region.
Subsequently, the Home Secretary Punjab apprised the envoy and his team of the security measures taken up by the Government of Punjab for the security of Chinese working in the province. He also stressed the need for formulating and coordinating a better security strategy and a more comprehensive joint mechanism for information sharing with the Chinese government.
The ambassador appreciated the initiatives of Punjab Government and remarked that Punjab Government has gone an extra mile for the protection of Chinese and can act as a model for other provinces as well.
The two sides expressed satisfaction over the level and substance of bilateral cooperation and agreed to strengthen and diversify mutual cooperation for the sake of peace, development and stability in the region.
