Ill-treatment not allowed in war too; Gen. Janjua stresses importance of war laws

ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (APP): National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. (R) Nasar Janjua has underscored the importance of legislation for trying criminals involved in heinous acts of terrorism. ‘The need was of special legislation in this regard emerged after the military operations against terrorists’, he said.
The Central Security Advisor of Pakistan was speaking to a learned audience of launching ceremony of two publications on International Humanitarian Law. The ceremony was organized by the Research Society of International Law, Pakistan in collaboration with the International Committee of The Red Cross. One of the publications is ‘Understanding International Humanitarian Law: Aprimer on IHL and Pakistan’s Domestic Law. The other was ‘Preventive Detention: A Guide to Pakistan’s Operations.
Addressing the occasion, Gen. Janjua said that the people of Fazlullah in Swat did a disaster but still Pakistan Army did not use blind force.
‘You need to use force very carefully when you are fighting at your home front’, he said.
