Information Minister urges media for responsible, positive role

ISLAMABAD, April 3 (APP): Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that media should play its positive role according to the responsibility we expect.
She said this after administering oath to the Chitral Press Club office-bearers here Monday. She felicitated all office-bearers.
Minister said that Chitral has played role in struggle for Pakistan. Present government is bringing Chitral in mainstream decision making. She offered her support for any type of professional assistance to the journalists of Chitral.
Minister said that Pakistan is emerging as financially developing and progressing country. Its connectivity and integration is also enhancing under CPEC.
Welfare and security of journalist bill is in process and minister welcomed any suggestions from journalists before sending it for approval to the parliament.
Minister appreciated media role and sacrifices during hard times of terrorism. Minister urged that there should be a proper system of welfare for journalists. She also said that the ministry is organising a series of training and capacity building programmes for journalists.
Minister approved application for 10 Kb radio transmitter in Chitral as well saying that it will help promote regional Chitrali languages, which are part of our indigenous culture. She announced to include this project in current PSDP being prepared for coming year. She also approved grant of Rs8 lakhs for Chitral Press Club.
