KARACHI, July 27 (APP): The Karachi Bulk Water Supple Scheme K-1V
would be completed on time.
This was informed during the meeting of the National Assembly’s
Standing Committee on Planning, Development and reform here on
The meeting chaired by MNA Abdul Majeed Khan Khanana Khail was
held at the office of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB). It
was attended by Malik Ibrar Ahmed, Ms. Shazia Fatima Khawaja, Ms.
Shaheen Shafiq, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Junaid Akber, Qaiser Jamal, Shaikh
Salahuddin, Ms. Asiya Nasir, Sher Akber Khan and other members of the
Chairman of the Committee asked the KWSB to expedite the ongoing
work on phase one of the K-IV project in order to ensure its timely
The Managing Director KWSB, Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi, while
briefing the committee on K-IV scheme, said that 26 percent work of
the phase one has already been completed.
He further pointed out that this project would be completed in
June 2018. The work on phase two and three would be started after the
completion of the phase one.
He also stated that the part one of the sewerage plant (S-3) is
likely to be completed by the end of the fiscal year 2017-18.
Talking to media, Chairman of the Committee Khanan Khail said
that the projects are important to cater to water and sewerage needs
of 20 million people of Karachi.
He said that a sub-committee of the Standing Committee has been
formed to oversee the projects to ensure timely completion.
