ISLAMABAD, July 14 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says the controversial JIT report on Panama Papers case is merely a pack of baseless allegations by opponents.
He was addressing PML-N parliamentary party meeting as president of the party in Islamabad on Friday.
The Prime Minister said the JIT report has no substantive evidence, and there is not a single sentence in the entire report which gives a clue that he is guilty of corruption.
However, he expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will listen to his reservations on the JIT report.
Nawaz Sharif said his conscience is clear and said in unequivocal terms that he will not resign on the demands of those who have been rejected by the masses not once, but several times. He thanked the nation and his party members for standing by him with full force.
Nawaz Sharif regretted that elements favouring political instability and uncertainty are proving detrimental to the country. He said the stock market, which had reached a bullish 54,000 points has plunged because of the unscrupulous elements and enemies of progress and prosperity.
The Prime Minister said he believes in democracy, rule of law and independence of judiciary.
He recalled that before 2013, Pakistan was going to be declared a failed state, but PML-N government not only averted that danger but also brought about an economic turnaround in the country.
The Prime Minister said a number of power projects were launched during his tenure and several of them have been completed. He said the load-shedding will become a tale of the past soon.
Nawaz Sharif said the government launched operation against terrorists with the cooperation of armed forces and back of terrorists has been broken.
He said economy is progressing and hopefully, we will achieve the growth rate of six and seven percent and even beyond.
