PESHAWAR, Feb 26 (APP): Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan while presiding over a meeting of the advisory committee comprising MNAs and Senators of the merged areas said that the 10 year plan is expected to change the overall landscape of the merged areas.
He said that the government expects a spending of Rs. 1228 Billion for the 10 year period in addition to the annual development program.
He said that we would hold continued consultation with the elected people and would carry out inclusion and exclusion of certain aspects of the developmental strategy before implementation so that the focus stays on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of merged areas and its peoples. He assured the human development, the spread of social services and above all the administrative structure for the quality services and governance in the merged districts. He hoped that the sub-committee will visit their respective areas, firm up recommendations based on needs of merged districts and he assured that the provincial government would go all out to provide everything within its reach for the rapid facilitation of reconstruction and rehabilitation of merged areas.
Chief Minister said that his government would work on the natural development of the tribal areas, ensuring connectivity, carrying out developmental activities both in the cities and villages of the merged districts. His government would ensure quality governance and would take steps for enhancing the earning both at individual and collective levels.
He said that the Prime Minister was committed to rehabilitation and reconstruction of merged areas and its people and he was constantly directing for the job creation and starting the economic and developmental activities in these areas. He assured to resolve the issue of salary of Khasadar and levies.
Mahmood Khan said that the merger was a way forward to the durable peace and once the developmental activities started through the huge amount pledged under the 10 year plan, there would be visible signs of development and prosperity.
He was optimistic that the sub-committee of advisory committee would work hard to focus on real issues of the tribal district and submit a comprehensive and detailed list of recommendations which the government would gradually resolve in order to fulfill the goals behind the successful merger of erstwhile FATA.
A detailed presentation was also made on the ten years plan for the new districts. Addressing the participants the Chief Minister assured for strict implementation on developmental strategy in the erstwhile but this implementation would be strictly in consonance with the aspirations of the people.
In the meeting it was decided that the constitution of sub-committee to negotiate with all the stakeholders to facilitate the smooth and successful bringing the people and merge areas in the national development stream and integrate them economically, politically and legally.
The sub-committee would interact with the all stakeholders at all levels to address to the apprehensions and contribute to the smooth moving forward for the successful merger of the erstwhile FATA.
The participants of the meeting talked about the security of jobs of the levies and Khasadars, the merger of levies and Khasadar in regular police, the 10 year developmental plan, the development of key dimensions as part of the overall merger, the creation of facilities, the restart of survey, the creation of jobs, the constitutional amendments, the developmental strategy, the apprehensions of the tribal about the corrupt practices in the projects and appreciated the Chief Minister’s all out efforts and sincerity towards the real issues of the merged areas and its people. The elected members both the senator and MNAs appreciated the Chief Minister for his keenness in the identification of their problems and promising to work out a mechanism for resolving them at the relevant forum.
