Govt committed to protect women’s rights: Says Faisal Javed

Islamabad: Mar 8 (APP): Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed Khan Friday reaffirmed the commitment of the government for continuous advocacy and support to ensure protecting rights of women in all walks of life.

Addressing a seminar held here in connection with International Women Day, organized by Shifa International Hospital, Senator Faisal Javed reiterated the vision of the government for women empowerment.
He said that women could contribute immensely by their participation in social, economic, and political decision making to build a balanced, safer, more inclusive and harmonious society.

Dr Zarina Hassan, a blind rock climber, painter and a social activist said that she lost her eyesight to glaucoma a few years ago and at present can barely distinguish between light and dark.

She shared her life story as how she managed to overcome adversity with self-belief, passion and determination and eventually evolved herself into an artist, a writer, and a social activist. She said that her work is meant to inspire and give hope and to radiate positivity.
