Six Pakistani fishermen arrive in Karachi

KARACHI, May 17 (APP): Six Pakistani fishermen released from Indian prisons were brought here through Edhi Welfare Foundation’s van from Lahore on Friday.

These six Pakistani fishermen have been languishing in Indian jails for last two years were received by Pakistani officials at Wahga Border on Thursday.

Four fishermen belong to Jati – Balochistan while two are residents of Mithi – Tharparkar.

Chairman of Edhi Foundation, Faisal Edhi and family members and friends of the fishermen welcomed them at the Office of Edhi Foundation at Tower here.

Talking to media, Faisal Edhi said that around 123 Pakistani fishermen incarcerated in Indian Jails should also be released by Indian authorities.

He said that 132 boats of Pakistani fishermen which were confiscated by Indian authorities should also be returned to Pakistani fishermen to help them earn bread and butter for their families beacuase seizure of their boats has left them jobless.

General Secretary Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum Saeed Jan was also present.
