Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announces $200M for “Ehsas Program”

NEW YORK, Sep 26(APP): Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will provide Pakistan with an amount of 200 million dollars for implementation of ‘Ehsas Program’ next year. A Memorandum of understanding was signed by the both parties in a meeting held in New York.

Speaking on occasion PM Khan said that this is the biggest anti-poverty project ever launched in the country which will turn the country into a welfare state. He said the poverty alleviation is on the top priority of his government from day one.

During the meeting Prime Minster Imran Khan expressed full commitment to put measures in place to end polio once and for all, as well as to make progress on the micro-payment gateway and financial inclusion. The ‘One Woman One Bank Account’ programme, which comes under Ehsaas, was also discussed in relation to how it can accelerate both financial inclusion and women’s empowerment.

However, along with Prime Minister Imran Khan and Bill Gates, the meeting was also attended by

Chairperson Ehsas Program,Dr Sania Nishtar .
