Kashmir Solidarity Day observed in High Commission of Pakistan, Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM (Tanzania), Feb 05(APP): The Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in the Chancery premises of the High Commission for Pakistan to the United Republic of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam. A large number of the Pakistani and Kashmiri community attended the event.

Ambassador Dr. Ahmada Fakih, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps/Ambassador of Comoros and Mr. Onur Yay, Charge d’ Affaires of Embassy of the Republic of Turkey were also present. Besides, representatives of Model United Nations Youth of Tanzania, Civil Society representatives, Human Rights lawyers and local media reporters were also present.

The Kashmir Solidarity Day function started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthems of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Special messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan on the occasion were read out by Mr. Muhammad Saleem, High Commissioner.

Mr. Ghazi Naeemullah Dar, Chairman Kashmir Committee in Tanzania, also shared his thoughts on the plight of innocent Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Two documentaries highlighting the ongoing brutalities at the hands of Indian forces unleashed in IIOJK, especially since August 05, 2019, were also shown to the participants.

High Commissioner Saleem also gave background briefing on the disputed status of IIOJK between Pakistan and India as recognized by the United Nations and the international community to the Tanzanian Civil Society, Media, Human Rights activists and Tanzanian Youth.
