ABU DHABI, Sep, 06 (APP): The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi commemorated 57th Defence Day of Pakistan today to pay tribute to the Martyrs of Pakistan for sacrifices rendered in the service of their homeland during 1965 war. Messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.
Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, H.E. Afzaal Mahmood, in his remarks, paid homage to the Martyrs and hailed the courage and professionalism of the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their thumping achievements during September 1965 war. Referring to the sacrifices made by the Pakistani nation in the fight against terrorism, the Ambassador paid special tribute to the Pakistanis who laid down their lives and to those who lost their loved ones during war against terrorism. He reiterated resolve of the resilient Pakistani Nation to overcome all challenges by displaying unity and courage.
Ambassador Mahmood also highlighted the plight of Kashmiri people facing state sponsored atrocities and urged the international community to play its due role in resolving the longstanding dispute of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people. He reiterated the Government’s determination to continue to extend political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their legitimate struggle against the foreign occupation.
During the event, a documentary on the achievements of Pakistan Defence Forces and heroic actions of the Martyrs was also screened. Special prayers were offered for peace and prosperity of Pakistani nation and freedom of Kashmiri people.
