President for inculcation of compassion, forgiveness in youth characters

ISLAMABAD, Nov 29 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi Friday said that amid prevailing social issues, it was inevitable to inculcate the habits of compassion and forgiveness in the people, particularly the youth to make the society peaceful and livable.

Addressing a seminar on “Mental Health Challenges Faced by Youth: The Way Forward” held here at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), the president said it was essential to promote a progressive thinking in the society.

He said the mental health was a complicated subject and researches were being carried out on the subject throughout the world.

He said throughout their lives, the humans continued to examine and understand the behaviors of others.

He said every human had his own perspective of looking into the affairs of life, in view of his own personality and lifestyle.

The president told the gathering that in politics, people gave due importance to the character and everyone looked into a particular incident through varying angles.

He said he was highly impressed by the personality of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) with forgiveness as a prominent trait of his personality.

He advised the people to adopt the habits of forgiveness and overlooking other’s mistakes as they did to their children and themselves.

The president said that in this era of social media, it was needed to differentiate between true and false.

He advised the parents that in this age of competitiveness, they should not judge their children in a way which could beget the issue like depression in their personalities.

President Arif Alvi also urged the people to exercise regularly particularly in the case of mental stress.

He told the gathering that Federal Ministry of National Health Services had launched a program to examine the level of stress among the school children of Islamabad that would help address the issues related to psychological stress and allied issues.
