Saudi Prosecutor for appeal in Appellate Court on Jamal Khashoggi court verdict

Riyadh (KSA) 23 Dec (APP): Saudi Public Prosecution on Monday has given an important statement on court’s decision regarding Jamal Khashoggi murder case, saying after reviewing verdict it would decide whether to file an appeal at appellate court.

According to a statement released by office of the public prosecutor, the prosecutor has concluded its investigations which included 31individuals, of whom 21individuals have been arrested, and (10) individuals have been called in for questioning without arrest as there was no basis for their detention.

The investigation, statement said yielded the indictment of 11 individuals and filing criminal charges against them in the Criminal Court of Riyadh. The Criminal Court rendered its decision with capital punishment for 5 individuals for committing and directly participating in the murder of the victim.

The court further punished three individuals’ imprisonment sentences for 24 years. Furthermore, the court dismissed the Public Prosecutor’s charges against 3 individuals and found them to be not guilty.

However, the prosecutor stated that it would review the court’s decision for further course of action including filing an appeal in Appellate Court.
