KARACHI, Mar. 15 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain formally opened
the 6th national census here on Wednesday by inscribing the allocated
census number “One” on the State Guest House, his official residence
in the metropolis.
On the occasion Census Commissioner and Federal Secretary,
Statistics Department briefed the President about the arrangements
made for the month long exercise in selected divisions of the
province.
“The national census being conducted after a gap of almost 19
years is extremely important for national progress and development,”
the President said addressing the officials present at the simple
but impressive inaugural ceremony.
Expressing his satisfaction about the preparations, President
Mamnoon Hussain appreciated the efforts made for the training of
enumerators and associated staff involved in the exercise.
“I am confident that enumerators from different government
departments will duly realize their responsibilities during the
tedious yet extremely important exercise across the country,” he
said.
