{"id":112129,"date":"2019-05-09T15:38:01","date_gmt":"2019-05-09T10:38:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/?p=112129"},"modified":"2019-05-09T15:38:01","modified_gmt":"2019-05-09T10:38:01","slug":"pakistan-asks-world-bank-to-empanel-arbitration-court-as-india-threatens-to-halt-water-flow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/2019\/05\/pakistan-asks-world-bank-to-empanel-arbitration-court-as-india-threatens-to-halt-water-flow\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan asks World Bank to empanel Arbitration Court as India threatens to halt water flow"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 696px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-112129-1\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Foreign-briefing.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Foreign-briefing.mp4\">http:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Foreign-briefing.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>ISLAMABAD, May 9 (APP): Pakistan on Thursday called upon the World Bank to set up its Court of Arbitration under Indus Water Treaty after India hinted of restricting the flow of water into Pakistan from its share of rivers.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal, at a weekly press briefing, said contrary to India\u2019s reluctance, Pakistan favored the continuity of Treaty and also the smooth functioning of its dispute resolution mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s Minister of Water Resources and Shipping Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said\u00a0New Delhi\u00a0will stop Pakistan\u2019s share of water as allocated\u00a0under the Indus Water Treaty.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Gadkari also announced that &#8220;India was not bound to follow the Treaty and had plans to divert the water flow to Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The FO Spokesman said Indus Water Treaty was mutually agreed upon between Pakistan and India, however India violated it by constructing Kishanganga and the under-progress Ratley hydroelectric projects.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Indus Water Treaty signed in 1960, Islamabad has unrestricted access to the\u00a0western rivers &#8211; Indus, Jhelum and Chenab &#8211; while New Delhi enjoys the same authority over the eastern rivers &#8211; Ravi, Beas and Sutlej.<\/p>\n<p>On Afghan peace process, he said Pakistan supported dialogue \u00a0and political solution of Afghanistan with focus on \u201cAfghan-led and \u00a0Afghan-owned approach\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He said Pakistan urged all the stakeholders to converge their energies on negotiations to avoid conflict in the already war-torn country.<\/p>\n<p>On chances of meeting between Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization moot on May 21-22 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, he said \u201cinformal handshake could be a possibility, however there is no meeting scheduled so far\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The FO Spokesman confirmed that Aasia Bibi, the woman acquitted by the Supreme Court on charges of blasphemy, had left Pakistan on her own free will.
