{"id":12830,"date":"2016-09-29T19:33:54","date_gmt":"2016-09-29T19:33:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/?p=12830"},"modified":"2016-09-29T19:33:54","modified_gmt":"2016-09-29T19:33:54","slug":"first-agreement-for-private-to-private-lng-import-to-pakistan-signed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/2016\/09\/first-agreement-for-private-to-private-lng-import-to-pakistan-signed\/","title":{"rendered":"First agreement for private-to-private LNG import to Pakistan signed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 696px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-12830-1\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/x-flv\" src=\"http:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/MoU-Signing-Ceremony-29-09-2016.flv?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/MoU-Signing-Ceremony-29-09-2016.flv\">http:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/MoU-Signing-Ceremony-29-09-2016.flv<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>ISLAMABAD, Sep 29 (APP): The first ever agreement was<br \/>\nsigned here Thursday between two private companies of Pakistan and Qatar for import of initially 1.3 million tons per annum (mtpa) Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was signed here at the PM House between<br \/>\nGlobal Energy Infrastructure Limited of Pakistan and Qatar<br \/>\nGas, the world\u2019s largest LNG import company.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif along with Minister<br \/>\nfor Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Minister for Finance<br \/>\nIshaq Dar besides CEO Qatar Gas and CEO Global Energy<br \/>\nInfrastructure witnessed the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The project was envisioned some five years ago that was<br \/>\nnow being realized to help mitigate the energy crisis of the<br \/>\ncountry.<\/p>\n<p>The engagement of private firms is part of government\u2019s<br \/>\nstrategies to rid the country of energy crisis it had<br \/>\ninherited in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>In order to tackle the chronic energy crisis the<br \/>\ngovernment was pursuing short, mid and long term plans and strategies to cope with the gas and electricity needs.<\/p>\n<p>The first LNG terminal was delivering the commodity to<br \/>\nthe end consumers imported from Qatar while more LNG terminal projects and supplies are also being pursued.<\/p>\n<p>Talking to APP, CEO Global Energy Infrastructure Limited<br \/>\nFarrukh Qayyum Saeed said their company had made partnership with Exxon Mobil, Total, Hoegh, STFA and Mitsubishi to execute the project.<\/p>\n<p>He said this was a 20-year agreement between the<br \/>\ncompanies and the volume of gas import could be enhanced to 2.3 mtpa.<\/p>\n<p>He said the government had allowed them to use the Sui<br \/>\ngas infrastructure and they were in contact with industries,<br \/>\nhousing colonies and CNG sector to offer their commodity for purchase.<\/p>\n<p>He said under this agreement they would offer a<br \/>\ncompetitive LNG price as agreed with the government.<\/p>\n<p>The group is pursuing an integrated LNG supply project,<br \/>\nwhich includes the construction of an LNG Terminal in the LNG Zone at Port Qasim, Karachi, as well as the supply of LNG from international producers.<\/p>\n<p>The group has arranged financing to start construction<br \/>\nat the earliest.
