He gave the directions after a<br \/>\nbriefing in which it was told that 106,343 cases of employees were<br \/>\npending in the ministries and divisions for the last three decades.<br \/>\nDr Firdous said the meeting was also informed that 37 million items,<br \/>\nincluding 6,000 official vehicles, of various government departments<br \/>\nhad been worn out, but no practical steps had been taken to dispose<br \/>\nthem of.<br \/>\nThe prime minister tasked the PM&#8217;s Delivery Unit to pursue all the<br \/>\nrelevant ministries to resolve all the pending cases within 45 days,<br \/>\nshe added.<br \/>\nShe said the Federal Cabinet gave approval to the proposal for<br \/>\nstructural and organizational reforms of the Ministry of National<br \/>\nHealth Services, Regulations and Coordination. It noted that<br \/>\nrestructuring of the ministry was imperative to fulfill the<br \/>\ngovernment\u2019s vision of correcting the imbalance in technical and<br \/>\nadministrative positions from existing 80 percent staff having no<br \/>\nhealth background to 70 percent technical staff and 30 percent<br \/>\nadministrative ones.<br \/>\nIn line with the best international practices, she said,the cabinet<br \/>\napproved in principle to change the name of ministry to the Ministry<br \/>\nof Health and Population. As part of the reforms, a completely new<br \/>\norganogram had been evolved, with key positions filled by technical<br \/>\nexperts alongside civil servants in high administrative positions that<br \/>\nwould foster an enabling role for the ministry to function effectively<br \/>\nand transparently, she added.<br \/>\nA new cadre for health among the Civil Services of Pakistan was<br \/>\napproved by the cabinet, under which civil servants would be trained<br \/>\nfor the newly reformed health ministry, further enhancing its<br \/>\nperformance, the SAPM said.<br \/>\nDr Firdous said the cabinet also gave approval for launch of inquiry<br \/>\nagainst five homeopathic colleges working in the country. Steps were<br \/>\nbeing taken to adopt best international practices in the homeopathic<br \/>\nsector and the ministry would take concrete measures in that regard,<br \/>\nshe added.<br \/>\nShe said the Civil Aviation Authority briefed the cabinet that in<br \/>\nfuture there would be no need to get a non-objection certificate for<br \/>\nbuilding high-rise buildings near airports, which would help attract<br \/>\ninvestment from overseas Pakistanis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr Firdous said the Power Ministry presented a plan to the cabinet,<br \/>\nunder which the electricity consumers would soon get relief in bills.<br \/>\nShe said the allied parties of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were part of<br \/>\nthe government and would remain in future too. The Muttahida Qaumi<br \/>\nMovement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leaders had presented all their concerns to<br \/>\nthe committee led by Federal Minister for Planning and Development<br \/>\nAsad Umar, which had been conveyed to the prime minister.<br \/>\nThe special assistant said Prime Minister Imran Khan had already<br \/>\ngiven a package of Rs162 billion for Karachi and it was now time for<br \/>\nits implementation and then transferring its benefits to the<br \/>\ngrassroots level.<br \/>\nShe said the ailing leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz were<br \/>\nstaying at home instead of being hospitalized and meeting with former<br \/>\nAfghan president Hamid Karzai, and sometime found at a five star hotel<br \/>\nhaving dinner with the family in London.
