{"id":142970,"date":"2020-01-28T20:38:40","date_gmt":"2020-01-28T15:38:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/?p=142970"},"modified":"2020-01-28T20:38:40","modified_gmt":"2020-01-28T15:38:40","slug":"scouts-transform-nation-by-developing-civic-sense-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/2020\/01\/scouts-transform-nation-by-developing-civic-sense-president\/","title":{"rendered":"Scouts transform nation by developing civic sense: President"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 696px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-142970-1\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/President-chief-guest-at-Pakistan-Boys-Scout-Association-event-28-01-2020.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/President-chief-guest-at-Pakistan-Boys-Scout-Association-event-28-01-2020.mp4\">https:\/\/vid.app.com.pk\/vid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/President-chief-guest-at-Pakistan-Boys-Scout-Association-event-28-01-2020.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday, terming scouts as &#8216;first physical and knowledgeable<\/p>\n<p>tier&#8217; of a society, said the volunteer youth force could significantly transform a nation by developing its civic sense at grassroots level.<\/p>\n<p>In his address after taking oath as Chief Scout of Pakistan at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Alvi said scouts had the potential to play constructive role in areas including sensitizing people on literacy, hygiene, fighting corruption and controlling fake news with an<\/p>\n<p>objective of betterment of community.<\/p>\n<p>President Dr Alvi was administered oath and awarded a distinctive scout scarf by<\/p>\n<p>Chief Commissioner Pakistan Boy Scouts Association Sarfaraz Qamar Daha at a<\/p>\n<p>ceremony, attended by young and senior scouts, representing two million of their<\/p>\n<p>fellow members from across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The president, who became the country&#8217;s 16th Chief Scout, said it was a pride<\/p>\n<p>moment for him to lead a dynamic organization with Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad<\/p>\n<p>Ali Jinnah as its first chief scout.<\/p>\n<p>He quoted excerpt from the Quaid&#8217;s investiture speech in 1947 as saying that<\/p>\n<p>scouting developed youth&#8217;s character by helping them learn to subordinate<\/p>\n<p>personal interests for other&#8217;s welfare and eschew violence of word and action<\/p>\n<p>while attaining their goal of universal brotherhood.<\/p>\n<p>President Alvi said nations are built, not on the basis of massive resources,<\/p>\n<p>but with collective will and determination of its people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Develop yourself on the basis of knowledge and wisdom to become a powerful<\/p>\n<p>nation,&#8221; he said, advising the scouts to focus their energies on building a better<\/p>\n<p>world for the people.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Quaid&#8217;s address to youth in Lahore after establishment of Pakistan<\/p>\n<p>had a message for the nascent nation, not to lose hope and instead, tread a path<\/p>\n<p>of steadfastness and strong character.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is still relevant for our nation today to not get deterred by current challenges,<\/p>\n<p>rather face these with unity,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned that Japan resumed its strength even after massive setbacks of Hiroshema and Nagasaki&#8217;s nuclear attacks, just because of its nation&#8217;s collective<\/p>\n<p>will.<\/p>\n<p>President Alvi said Pakistan was facing challenge of conflict at its eastern<\/p>\n<p>border, adding that &#8220;troubles were being imposed, in response to Pakistan&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>peaceful efforts&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his first address after assuming<\/p>\n<p>office, had conveyed a message of peace to all neighbouring countries, which<\/p>\n<p>he said, unfortunately did not meet a positive response.<\/p>\n<p>The President said peace was important to address the common issues of<\/p>\n<p>poverty, literacy and health.<\/p>\n<p>VNS Islamabad<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday, terming scouts as &#8216;first physical and knowledgeable tier&#8217; of a society, said the volunteer youth force could significantly transform a nation by developing its civic sense at grassroots level.
