PM Nawaz, Kerry discuss regional, international issues

NEW YORK, Sep 19 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry in New York on Monday.

During the meeting, regional and international issues came under discussion.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Maleeha Lodhi and US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Olson were also present on this occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister said partnership between Pakistan and US is imperative for regional stability.

He apprised John Kerry about Pakistan’s efforts in curbing terrorism and said Operation Zarb-e-Azb has broken the back of terrorists.

Highlighting Kashmir issue, he said so far one hundred and seven people have been martyred and hundreds injured during the current spree of violence in Occupied Kashmir.

He said human rights violations are being carried out as state terrorism in the held valley.

John Kerry appreciated Pakistan’s endeavours in fight against terrorism and extremism.

He said peace and stability in the region is in the interest of both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
