ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP): Pakistan Thursday has rejected any attempt to violate Indus Water Treaty.
In his weekly news briefing at Foreign Office, spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said any violation of Indus Waters Treaty by India will be unacceptable.
To questions by media persons Zakaria said that Pakistan was cognizant of latest developments in this regard and appropriate steps would be taken to oppose any violation by India.
The spokesperson went on to say that international pressure has increased on India since the Indian brutalities exposed in extra-judicial killing of Burhan Wani.
He termed Indian manoeuvring “desperate attempts” to divert attention from its atrocities and human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir. However, he said Pakistan was highlighting Indian killing in IOK at international for a, which he said there has been very substantive outcome of these efforts.
Highlighting strong condemnation and response by various international forums, Zakaria informed media that the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC in Tashkent has adopted a very strongly worded resolution to condemn Indian atrocities. Turkey has also reaffirmed its support to Pakistan’s principle stance for just solution of Kashmir dispute. UN Human Rights Council in Geneva demanded immediate release of Kashmiri human rights defender Khurram Parvez.
‘International community remains concerned about the Indian crimes against humanity in Occupied Kashmir’ he added.
Responding to another question, the spokesperson said India violated ceasefire on LOC for more than ninety times this year.
To a question pertaining to a perception of Pakistan’s isolation, he termed the perception as ridiculous. “India’s negative attitude has been exposed which is the biggest hurdle in the way of the development and prosperity of the region,” he said adding that Indian treatment to the Pakistani artistes were very disappointing and highly regrettable.
