US President Trump receives PM Imran at White House

WASHINGTON, Jul 22 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday arrived at the White House for one-to-one meeting with the US President Donald Trump followed by the delegation level talks to discuss the bilateral and regional matters.

The prime minister, who is on a three-day visit to the US at the invitation of the US President, arrived for the first summit-level engagement between Pakistan and the United States since both the leaders assumed their respective offices.

As the prime minister arrived at the White House, the US President was there to receive him at the entrance. Both the leaders warmly shook hands before proceedings for the one-to-one and delegation level talks. Prime Minister Imran Khan also viewed different parts of White House, which is a historical palace of presidents of USA. Both leaders had a candid conversation  during a tour of the White House. During tour of White House, President Donald J. Trump presented a Cricket Bat to Prime Minister Imran Khan along with a picture of President Eisenhower who is the only US President who witnessed Test Match in Pakistan.

President Trump also held a lunch meeting in the Cabinet Room with Imran Khan. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, acting Defense Secretary Richard Spencer, deputy national security adviser Charles Kupperman, Joint Chiefs chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford, acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, senior adviser Jared Kushner, and press secretary Stephanie Grisham  attended the meeting.
