ISLAMABAD, Mar 09(APP): A virtual meeting to discuss the current Football situation in Pakistan was held here between Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Representatives of FIFA, Asian Football Confederation and members of Normalization Committee.
Director Member Associations Sanjeevan Balasingam, Director Governance Rolph Tanner, Sr. Manager Governance from FIFA Laura Dijak, Sr. Manager Purushottam Kattel, Dinesh De Silva from AFC and Chairman Haroon Malik , Member Haris Azmat, Member Shahid Khokhar and Member from Normalization Committee Pakistan Saud Hashmi attended the meeting.
The representative of FIFA highly appreciated the efforts being taken by M/o IPC, PSB and Government to resolve the current issue and showed keen interest to work in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board in future football activities in Pakistan.
The representative of FIFA informed that FIFA will lift its suspension as soon as the football house is handed back over to NC which will also enable NC to carry out its assigned mandate to conduct elections of Pakistan Football Federation.
It was further informed that huge FIFA development funds will be spent on the promotion of Football in the country once the suspension is lifted. The representative of AFC also appreciated the efforts and urged early lifting of FIFA’s suspension for restoration of football activities in Pakistan.
Federal Minister Dr. Fehmida Mirza highlighted the steps and efforts which have already been undertaken in resolving the issue and reiterated her stance for conducting fair, free and transparent elections of PFF at the earliest.
She assured that Football House will be handed over to NC very shortly for which she is personally monitoring the situation.
The participants acknowledged and appreciated the steps being taken at the government level and assured their full cooperation with the government. The meeting is a huge step in getting Pakistan closer to International Football and getting its membership restored.
