LAHORE, Nov 30 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday said that the government’s initiatives will help reduce significantly impacts of environmental pollution in the country in three years.
He expressed his views while chairing a high level meeting in Lahore to address the issue of increasing air pollution and smog. He also said the government has decided to import high quality Euro-IV oil, which will decrease pollutants in the air by 90 percent.
In the meeting, it was decided that oil refineries will be given three years to improve quality of their oil, Electric vehicles will be introduced and Buses in cities will either be hybrid or electric. Also, government will import machinery to better dispose of remains of rice crop and urban forestry spreading over 60,000 kanals of land will be established in Lahore.
It was also decided in the meeting that number of weather monitoring centers in Lahore will be increased from two to 10 and there will be a total of thirty centers in the province.
