ISLAMABAD, Dec 13 (APP): Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari says the government is going to introduce competitive bidding in the power sector to ensure supply of low-cost electricity to consumers.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday along with Minister of State for power Abid Sher Ali, he said for this purpose, the ministry has decided to hold an open bidding in wind energy, solar energy and bio mass sector.

He said, in the process of bidding, only those private companies will be considered that will provide cheap electricity to our consumers.

The Minister said due to endeavours of the incumbent government, the generation of electricity is more than that of demand. He termed it as a big achievement of PML-N.

He said Pakistan has entered in a new phase. He said we are also revising the policies with regard to the power generation companies to encourage investors.

The Minister said that new programs will also be launched in the power sector within few weeks to further the sector.

He said, today, zero load shedding is being observed throughout the country. He said, however, where there will be power pilferage, there will be load shedding as the government is not in favour to increase burden on general public.

He said the PML-N has created environment for the competitive bidding through exercising its prudent policies.

Expressing his views, Abid Sher Ali said that several grid stations in KPK are not in working condition due to the inefficiency of the provincial government.

He said PTI is responsible for load shedding in KPK, despite, the people of the area are timely paying their electricity bills.
