Prominent artists from TV and film industry meet PM

ISLAMABAD, Feb. 26 (APP): A delegation of prominent artists, including legendary drama, film and TV actors, singers and producers, called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at Prime Minister’s Office today.

Minister of State for Information Ms. Maryam Aurangzeb, Chairman Central Board of Film Censor Mobashir Hassan and senior officers were also present during the meeting.

Issues related to the industry including films, TV, theatre were discussed during the meeting.

Ms. Maryam Aurangzeb, MoS for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Literary Heritage recounted various steps taken by the Government for the revival of the industry and for the welfare of the artists’ community. They include among others tax exemption, tax rebate, construction of cinemas, establishment of Film Finance Fund, Film Studio on public private partnership and declaring this sector as an industry.

The delegation appreciated various steps taken by the Government for the support and revival of the industry. They particularly appreciated the role of Minister of State for Information for supporting the industry and addressing the issues of the community.

The delegation also presented before the Prime Minister various proposals for further promotion of the industry and for the welfare of the artists’ community across the country.

The Prime Minister said that artists were instrumental in promotion of culture and providing entertainment to the people. He said that the Government would continue to provide support the industry for its revival.

The Prime Minister directed the Information Ministry to include the charter of demand from the artist in the films and culture policy.
