ISLAMABAD, Feb 14 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has reiterated Pakistan’s strong desire to convert Pak-Turkey bilateral relations into multi-faceted strategic economic cooperation.
He was addressing a joint press conference along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan in Islamabad tonight (Friday).
The Foreign Minister said that Turkish President has pledged his continued support to Islamabad and its stance on Kashmir and FATF issues.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi appreciated the Turkish president for standing in solidarity with the people of Kashmir, who have been suffering oppression under Indian occupation.
The Foreign Minister said signing of 13 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Islamabad and Ankara will open a new chapter in the bilateral relations of the two countries.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan supports Turkey on all matters, including terrorism-related issues on its border.
The Foreign Minister welcomed the Turkish traders and business for showing interest in making investment in Pakistan.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the two countries have decided to establish more joint working groups on Defence, Industry and Agriculture and Water.
The joint working groups of High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council will continue their work to develop specific program and projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said the Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to exchange delegation-level experts and intellectuals in media sector under the bilateral agreements.
She said the two countries have decided to expand the bilateral trade volume from one billion dollars to five billion dollars.
