ISLAMABAD, July 20 (APP): Pakistan has urged India to respect the mandate of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India, Pakistan (UNMOGIP) for peace and tranquility on the Line of Control.

In his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said the UNMOGIP has the mandate to monitor ceasefire violations on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary.

He said Pakistan has always extended full cooperation to the UN observer group while the Indian side is giving limited access to it in Occupied Kashmir.

Nafees Zakaria said India must realize that consultation and peaceful co-existence and not the confrontation are the way forward.

Strongly condemning the continuous Indian ceasefire violations, the spokesperson said New Delhi is escalating the tension to divert world attention from its atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
