WELLINGTON, Aug 14 (APP): A simple and graceful flag-hoisting ceremony was held here at the High Commission for Pakistan. A sizeable Pakistani community living in Wellington and adjoining cities attended the event.
The High Commissioner welcomed the guests and in his remarks, highlighted the significance of the day. He underlined Pakistan’s important role, regionally and internationally. He also talked about the Government of Pakistan’s vision for a peaceful and progressive Pakistan.
Regarding India’s illegal and unilateral action of 5 August 2019, the High Commissioner said that Government of Pakistan declared 5th August this year as Youm-e-lstehsal in solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir who have been suffering the worst human rights abuses at the hands of Indian occupying forces.
The High Commissioner stressed the contribution of Pakistani community in strengthening Pakistan’s relations with New Zealand.
