Peshawar, Dec 23 (APP): A three days Prison Sports Gala organised by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa sports directorates began on Thursday at central prison after a colorful ceremony. Secretary Sports Mushtaq was the chief guest in the event, IG prison Saddat Hassan including senior official of prison department and government officials, showed up in large numbers.
The players actively participated in the festival and enjoyed the unit, during the opening ceremony, a tug-of-war, sack race, musical chair and food eating and drinking competitions were held between the prison inmates and the prison official.
On the occasions secretary Sports Mushtaq Ahmad said the aim of the sports gala is to provide happiness to the inmates of the prison, Sports events have been held before and will be held again, Through sports, the mental balance of the prisoners will change, they will understand good and bad .
IG prison Saddat Hassan added Sports competitions are the most important need of the hour for inmates in prisons such competitions will not only provide healthy activities but also keep the prisoners away from vices.
He also said such events will be held in the future to raise awareness among the prisoners about humane society, Daily sports activities are conducted in the prison and also educational training is going on in the prison.
The sport gala will continue for three days in which Cricket, volleyball, football and other sports competitions will be held.
